Asmara must have felt proud during the last days for hosting the Somali Congress for Liberation and Reconstitution by welcoming peace seeker Somali delegates from all over the world, including Sheik Hassan Dahir Aweys.

Historically, as Eritreans, we have seen a level of unparalleled hostility directed at our desire for self-determination, especially, emanating from those exceptionally hostile elements within Langley and Foggy Bottom neighborhoods, as well as, Kremlin. Be that as it may, the aim of this piece is not to rehash the all too well know facts of military and political supports rendered by the Imperial Centers of the time, Moscow and Washington, to eliminate the aspiration of the Eritrean people and their struggle movements for self-determination. The aim here is to look at - in view of current US-Eritrea relations - the literary work of one of the world’s renowned authors, Thomas Keneally, the author of ‘To Asmara’ and ‘Schindler’s List’.

Martin Plaut's nonsensical article |

What message is Martin Plaut exactly trying to relay to the international body? Has he perhaps been hired as a crier of doom and gloom in order to pave the way for trouble, where there is none? The last time President Isaias Afworki was asked if he anticipated another war with the woyane , his immediate response was “for what purpose” Indeed! For what purpose? There even was no purpose the last time, if it were not for the bad advice of outsiders. So what more reason is there left to go to war for, unless some other party, behind the scene, is itching to start a war with Eritrea , and is again sending the woyane as a pretext.

I understood there is a petition addressed to Condoleezza Rice congratulating her department for threatening to take some “Courageous” action against Eritrea! The authors of the petition further salivate about the harm that would fall to Eritreans and encourage the State Department to carryon with its threat and more harm to Eritrea. I also read some angry condemnation by some genuine Eritrean patriots against the authors and proponents of that petition.

So much has been written in response to all the allegations being made against Eritrea that, I thought this article of mine, which was written and posted in early February of this year, under the title “no one believes a liar even when she or he is telling the truth” to still be as valid and as relevant to the recent allegations that the USA is pouring on Eritrea without any tangible or visible proof whatsoever, and against all international rules and regulations and the United Nations Charter, for all its worth

Eritrean Americans from different corner of the United States flocked to San Jose, California, 40 miles from Oakland, for the Western State Eritrean Festival 2007. Some came from as far as the east coast, although there was one held in Washington, D.C.

ERITREA - How the US State Department is working against President Bush's policy |

As I read President Bush's remarks on terror delivered on 6 October 2005 at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), I sensed that he was trying to clarify his policies vis a vis predominantly Islamic nations and the war or terrorism, which has been wrongly and deliberately misinterpreted by some to mean war on Islam. We all know that coercion, intimidation, and finance are used by both radical fundamentalist Evangelical Moslems and radical fundamentalist Evangelical Christians to advance destabilization agendas using religion as a pretext. Employing intimidation, psychological warfare, fear, suspicion, doubt, and uncertainty to control the activities of certain targeted communities to advance certain causes-right or wrong, whether it comes from the left or right, radical Islam or radical Christian, in my opinion are activities that should be condemned by every peace loving individual, as well as governments.
