Eritrea Must be Encouraged! Print E-mail
Written by Berhane Alazar
Thursday, 13 September 2007
As an Eritrean American and one with vested interest in the wellbeing of the Horn of Africa region, it saddens me to see the US/Eritrea relation deteriorating unjustifiably. It is unquestionable for the State Department to keep on blaming Eritrea for its own political blunder and the incoherent and myopic vision the Bush Administration has been pursuing in the area.

What if you were trying to write your resume and you blank on summarizing your true accomplishments and achievements? What if you went from one corporation to another and got bad reviews? What if you were a diplomat and hopped from one country to another without any fruitful resolution? What if you didn’t have a clear understanding of the tasks you were sent for? What if you experienced Dr. Jendai Fraser's scenic diplomatic nightmare?

U.S. Officials stop demonizing Eritrea, a young and principled African nation Print E-mail
Written by Ghidewon Abay Asmerom

ImageUS-Eritrea relations are deteriorating by the day. The latest order by the Bush Administration to close the Eritrean consulate in Oakland, California, is one more piece in this worsening relationship. Each side is saying the other is to blame. United States officials will tell you Eritrea is to blame. Why? Their answer is: “Who is poor and small Eritrea, to challenge the United States?”

THE US ADMINISTRATION: WAGING AN UNJUST WAR TO 'SUBJUGATE' THE ERITREAN PEOPLE Print E-mail
Written by Rishan Beyene
Thursday, 13 September 2007
It is the latest and yet again unjustified and rather undignified decision by the US administration vis-a-vis the law-abiding Eritrea, i.e. the administration's order to shut the Eritrean Consulate in Oakland, California, that had caused me to write this brief article. To this writer, no other nation has waged war against the very existence of Eritrean people than the US. Indeed, the destructive role played by US administrations, both past and present, only attests to this fact.

The pup wolf and the lamb Print E-mail
Written by Abeba Isahac

I might have, in a previous article, used this little anecdote to illustrate the senseless and bizarre behavior of the belligerent western world, and am therefore finding it necessary to repeat it, based on the statements given by the State Department through their African American mouth piece the assistant Secretary of State, Jendayi Fraser, to put Eritrea on their list as a terrorist Nation, and therefore, by so doing, to pave their way for more adventurism into Africa.
