ImageThe word BIDDHO is a Tigrignya term equivalent to the English word CHALLENGE. We have chosen this ancient symbol of courage and dedication to represent our dedication and steadfastness.  In its short history since its launch, almost two years ago, Biddho’s accomplishments are nothing short of historic.

The birth of Biddho.com came at a time when enemies from different corners confronted our young nation, Eritrea. Eritrea’s adversaries from far and near anticipated its quick demise.  To expedite Eritrea’s fall, they chose to try our sense of challenge and determination by creating devises that would put asunder our unity. Several websites using the Eritrean name and capitalizing on the currency of Eritrean steadfastness and courage started betraying her and her people. These websites served as mouthpieces and platforms catering those hawks that had been hiding and slowly coming out from the woodworks to destroy Eritrea and Eritreans. So the Biddho team, seeing this and sensing danger, in spite of our meagre resources, but driven and motivated by an all too familiar Eritrean fervent zeal, and dynamic spirit, set out with determination to do something in defence of the motherland. So, like David did when he faced Goliath, Biddho came on to the world platform to challenge and quash all the evildoers, with whatever they had in hand. And now all that is history.

Although many were relieved to find an alternative outlet, and a great deal of hard work and many sleepless hours had been put into it, Biddho.com still does not pretend to have achieved all this single handed, but gives credit to their followers also, who stood by them, and in good faith encouraged them by participating and generously pouring in and gracing the front page with their patriotic views and ideas which came from four corners of the earth both in Tigrigna and English, day after day, and gave the website a big boost. The mini wars that we all fought together, through this website, to attack, fend off and quash, once and for all, our motherland's mortal enemies, is already showing its fruits. We can now all proudly say that together, we did it!

ImageTherefore, before our Revival, and as we open a new chapter in this dawn where our young country is starting to kick again, having already recuperated from its initial wounds, but is still facing the aftermath, as well as new challenges, we at Biddho, would like to commit and pledge in this new phase, to our fellow Eritreans and friends of Eritrea what our next agenda and aspirations for our beloved young nation will be, and the principles by which it will abide.

In this noisy electronic age, which is conducive for expediently spreading information far and wide, and where also a platform is provided for those individuals and organizations who find a need in themselves to spread misinformation, to wage verbal wars, to distort facts, to spread rumours, and to create a polluted media environment, it is time that media outlets like Biddho distinguish themselves from the wild media culture by reaffirming their integrity in truth telling in sober, deliberate, authoritative, and objective commitment.

Ironically, the buzzword of this century/millennium seems to be "self defence" a word which is being heard over and over again by the rich and powerful. Eritrea too, will be in the "self defence” mode, in the, real and true sense of the word. We have to stay vigil at all times from several fronts including internally. It is therefore very difficult for us to say that there will be certain things we will not do, even if it means protecting our nation. Rather, we are going to say that, there will not be anything that we are not prepared to do when it comes to the defence and safety of our nation. So a commitment in this area will not be able to hold, except to say that we will never be the attackers, but only the defenders by all means necessary.

Otherwise it is our intention, on our part, to uphold the truth as we publicize Eritrea's challenges and victories, while at the same time, we will expose false ill-willed information, and disinformation campaigns against our country, people and institutions. And to this end, we will always keep vigil.

We will try to be the pillars of support and strength to our people by keeping there spirits up as we cheer their successes while giving them courage to confront new inevitable challenges, assuring them that we will always be by their side. In the spirit of unity and brotherly love among our people, we will preserve, hold with respect, and give deep meaning to our nationalistic slogans. Hade Libi, Hade Hizbi,  Awet n/Hafash etc. and we will ignore and give no mind to those detractors who always try to make fun of them with the purpose of dividing us.

ImageWe will also strive to provide moral support to Eritrean Leaders, and institutions as they chart the Eritrean path to reconstruction, rehabilitation and development, as the disappointment, and pain of having to re-do a job that had already been a work of love, and to see it destroyed by a friend turned enemy, must be quite demoralizing and needs some moral support not the rubbing of salt on the wounds. We will also confront those ruthless detractors who are making fun of our hurts and pains. We will have no patience or mercy for such cruel, heartless entities.

We will forever keep the memory of our martyrs alive, and we will not allow the detractors to use their names for sinister purposes or use their families as propaganda tools. We will also fight for the good image of our Defence Forces, and as always, cheer them on and show our gratitude for the vigil that they keep for our safety, under all conditions. We have much to thank them for.

We will strive to instil pride and love of country, especially in the very young, and will encourage older parents or grand parents to keep the story of the Eritrean culture alive in the family. Eritrea has a rich culture and it should not be denied to anyone because of distance. Efforts will also be made to strengthen the faith and trust that exists between the Eritrean people and their government.

In conclusion, the aim and the goal of Biddho.com in these trying times that Eritrea must go through, is to strive to be a safe haven of a gathering place or if you will, an away from home battle field, where all bona fide and like minded Eritreans will come to find, as well as to give, strength and encouragement, and in the process, with a sign of solidarity help our government as it fights off and weakens its known and yet to be known enemies, assured that, with truth on our side, in the end, Eritrea will prevail.

Eritrea Forever, and Awet n'Hafash!
