Pointing out that the Somali people have risen up in unison to liberate their country, the Congress spokesman called on the TPLF forces inside Somalia to vacate the country for their lives because not only will they not have any chance of escaping but they will also face the wrath of the Somali people. Asked whether the struggle to liberate Somalia would be through military or peaceful means, he underlined that the choice lies in the invading force. “If it chooses to leave peacefully, well and good; otherwise, resort[ing] to the other alternative is inevitable,” Dr. Zekaria elaborated. Indicating that thousands of Somali youth have raised up arms and are joining the liberation fighters to drive out the invading force, the spokesman pointed out that the time for the restoration of Somalia’s freedom and sovereignty through a united and dedicated struggle is not that far. He went on to explain that the fighters for liberation and reconstitution of Somalia are registering major victories over the invading forces of the TPLF regime and that the invading regime is, as usual, committing atrocities against the civilian population to cover up its defeat. In reply to a question from journalists regarding the peacekeeping force, Dr. Zekaria said that there is no so-called peacekeeping force in Somalia and the Ugandan army, which has been deployed in the name of peacekeeping, has fully become an instrument of implementing the TPLF regime’s agenda; it is not to be viewed differently from the invading force. As regards to rumors about the “presence of terrorists in Somalia,” Dr. Zekaria underscored that the Somalis are patriotic and committed people struggling for the respect of their legitimate rights and sovereignty, and not terrorists. “If at all there exists terrorists in Somalia, it is only the invading TPLF regime,” Dr. Zekaria emphasized. |
