This summer I lost my only living brother to an unexpected sudden death, caused, I strongly believe, by a broken heart after a long time of silent endurance and resistance to extreme anxiety and sadness  which ultimately must have turned into a deep depression, causing the gradual failure of all his major body organs, which I understand can be the result of extreme mental stress.  In the end his body just gave in, as his spirit was no more willing to go on.

At my brother’s wake and funeral, I saw the very same people who had caused his agony and pain, express hypocritical sorrow and shed crocodile tears, which naturally caused my blood to boil. But, as tempted as I was to embarrass and insult them by driving them away and asking them to leave, out of respect for the occasion, and for those genuine family members and friends who had come to pay their last respects to him, I had to restrain myself, and only revert to, in silence, curse them, and wish and pray that what they had done to my brother may come to haunt them for as long as they lived and beyond.

To come to my main point, it is with regards to the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmedinejan and his desire to visit and pay his respects to the men and women who had died on 9/11 at ground zero in New York city. Why he was denied it by the authorities, is anyone’s guess, because, unless the United States is planning to attack Iran too, and is looking for pretexts in that regard, there is no indication whatsoever that Iran, like Iraq, had anything to do with the attack on the twin towers in New York, nor on the pentagon building in Washington DC. So what is the brouhaha all about? But then, even if he had had a hand in it, whether directly or indirectly, as they are implicating that he harbors and supplies ammunition to terrorists, even if that were true, I think out of respect for those who died and their loved ones, the leaders in New York should not have denied him the opportunity to pay his respects. Denying him that simple gesture was tantamount to insulting the victims, since, in the eyes of their families, they deep down in their hearts know that the president of Iran had nothing whatsoever to do with their loved ones’ deaths. Therefore, instead of going after the real culprits like Osama Bin Laden, using the gravesite of the 9/11 victims as targets and pretexts so as to enable them to start another mindless and inhumane war, is an insult to everyone’s intelligence.

According to statistics, it is a 30% of the over 18 years of age group of the American population who still approve of what now is being called Bush’s war. I am sure it baffles and boggles the minds of all peoples around the world, even if one percent, let alone 30% of the American people would approve and go along with an unprovoked war on a country that never ever was a threat or a danger to them. True that making wars is a part of the American psyche since the country was founded on lawlessness, greed, belligerence, violence, intrigue, and uncalled for force, and that, despite it all, it grew and prospered under such, to the extent that it made them believe that even God was on their evil side, and that, therefore, it must have been written in their destiny to do so. That belief was the birth of the Manifest Destiny phenomenon.

But that is supposed to have taken place in an era where the untamed white man had ran amok, abiding only by the law of the jungle in contrast to the present time, and already in the 21st century, where the world watches every single step taken by another nation, and where also, under the umbrella of the United Nations, law and order is supposed to have reigned, thereby civilizing human nature. At least that is what was supposed to have happened after Hitler’s madness in the Second World War.

Hearing the unprofessional, careless and illegal threatening rhetoric being uttered by the affirmative action recipient, assistant secretary of state, Jendayi Frazier, makes me wonder how many Americans would believe her, or agree with her, to the extent that, God forbid, it would end in the United States invading Eritrea, with the explanation to the American people that Eritrea posed to be a threat to their country and system of government? How many percentage of the almost 300 million Americans would really believe and fear that a nascent and weak nation of four million population could pose a danger to them and their livelihood, even if the false allegation coming from Ms. Frazier were, let’s assume, found to be true? Even then, unless America had ulterior motives, a country as little and as weak as Eritrea could hardly make a dent to the powerful and prosperous America. Still, I cannot help but wonder and worry with how much of her stupidity and ignorance, could Jendayi Frazier get away playing with the vulnerable American psyche.

I do not think there is any one American, of any age today, who can remember a time, in his or her lifetime, when his country America was not involved in either a covert, overt, or in the process of plotting for a war, somewhere around the world, no matter how far or near and no matter how small, weak or poor the nation. As a matter of fact, the weaker and the poorer the nation, the better and easier for America to gain international and United Nations’ acquiescence. America is always on the go, looking for trouble, and creating it where there is none to be found. As a contemporary Secretary of State put it, not too long ago: “we are running out of enemies” This is the mandate which has been allotted to Jendayi Frazier and her colleagues, and by hook or by crook they have to deliver, if they are to keep their jobs. Their job is to either supply enemies for the United States of America, or to create civil wars within other nations, preferably Africa, so that the gun manufacturers can continue to prosper, as America supplies them directly, or donates money for their purchase to be done exclusively from America. I wonder if, also this time around, the 30% vulnerable Americans would not have learned their lesson so as to question before approving their leadership’s evil and terroristic actions.

Compared to the sufferings caused as a result of United States foreign policy and their evil deeds around the world’s weaker nations, 9/11 is just a drop in the ocean and just a tiny small dose. Millions have died, suffered and become homeless and displaced, or forced to reluctantly flee their homeland and migrate toward faraway and unwelcoming strange lands. Members of the United Nations and the Security Council look on helplessly, afraid that if they spoke, they might be next. Indeed, as one British parliamentarian put it when frustrated with the evil American policies, he called them: “a giant with the brain of a child”

If it were not for American interest, peace would now be reigning in the horn of Africa, and who knows where Eritrea would have evolved to by now! If it were not for the handsome compensation they receive from the Americans and the Europeans, the woyane would never have dared to attack Eritrea. But alas, it is in their interest to do so. They are the mine sweepers that America sends in advance to kill and be killed, while arming them to the teeth and compensating them handsomely for their effort.

So what do the vulnerable 30% of Americans think about all this hypocrisy? To love one’s country and support one’s troops is admirable, but to support a false mission just because the government said so, and as a result to cause the needless sufferings of so many, is called madness. If it were not so, then, in that case, we can also absolve Hitler’s followers, saying that they did it out of love for country and in support of their army. What is good for the goose is good for the gander too. Is it not?

So here we are, reduced to the point where, affirmative action recipient characters, the likes of Jendayi Frazier, take it upon themselves to threaten and demand that a regime change take place in Eritrea, without even considering the desire of the Eritrean people. But we know that those ladies’ mandate is to create as many enemies for their country as is possible, so that the gun factories in the United States of America would not remain idle. Do the 30% gullible Americans know that? I wonder! Perhaps it is up to us to inform and educate them. And does Dr. Bereket Habtesellassie really believe that Jendayi Frazier can deliver his evil proposal? After all, despite all the importance he gives her, Jendayi Frazier is only a robotic messenger who is striving to hold a job.

At one point it looked like, Dr. Bereket, with all the impressive prefixes and suffixes preceding and following his name, and with all his alleged high education and experiences, would know better than to plead with Jendayi Frazier. But on second thought, these two probably deserve one another. Who knows if perhaps he too is a victim of affirmative action in America!

Ultimately, Eritrea will prevail, always protected by the God of peace, truth and justice.
