Asmara, 9 October 2007 - President Isaias Afwerki and the Libyan leader Brother Muammar Al-Khadafi held talks in Tripoli on bilateral, regional and international issues.
The talks that were held in the State Palace focused on peace and security in Africa in general and the situation in Somalia and Darfur in particular. The two leaders held discussions on the meeting regarding the Darfur peace process scheduled to take place on October 27 in Libya, as well as the efforts Eritrea is exerting to promote peace in Somalia. The Libyan leader hosted a dinner banquet in honor of President Isaias Afwerki following the meeting that continued today for the second time, according to reports. It is to be recalled that President Isaias left for Tripoli yesterday on a two-day work visit at the invitation of the Libyan leader Brother Muammar Al-Khadafi. |
