Have you ever wondered how could a Bona fide Eritrean with blood connection and with living close relatives in Eritrea work against the interests of his country and people? Could it be for the simple reason of getting some vengeance against someone or some group of people for which he may have an axe to grind?
Could it possibly be for some worthless notoriety? Or could it be for some alms that may be thrown at him from governments and organizations whose interest may not be served by Eritrea whose preferred adjective has been “Tiny, impoverished” country? Interestingly its government is routinely described as “Autocratic, fiercely independent, “etc. Wait a minute! Isn’t there something wrong with the picture here? How is that possible for Eritrea to be labeled as “poor” by the people who “know it all” and at the same time described as “stubbornly refusing handouts” by the same group? Could it be that Eritrea, while not exceptionally wealthy, may not be as “poor” as we were led to believe in the first place? And what has Eritrea’s size got to do with its desire to stand tall on its own feet without counting on the biased sympathy of any country or government? “Tiny Eritrea” is one of the phrases that the media with ulterior motive loves to repeat as if it was some kind of newly discovered planet. “Tiny”? You bet it is - tiny and sweet - that is. As the saying goes “Good things come in small packages”! But, the question is why would anybody be concerned about the size or its state of wealth when that has not bothered the only stake holders, the Eritrean people? Again the semblance of being “More Catholic than the Pope himself” comes in mind. What about ridiculing the “Autocratic” leadership in Eritrea? I for one would rather be administered by an autocrat who places the welfare of Eritrea above and beyond anything else than by a so-called “Democrat” who may govern the country with the help and at the service of some foreign agents who may not have the best interests of the Eritrean people at heart. Now, back to the spineless “Chalabis of Eritrea”, as one of the talented writers and daughters of Eritrea correctly put it recently. It is one thing to oppose some economic system, an administration or a government. In fact, if appropriately used and within the realm of law, it is a noble cause of any citizen that aspires to see the wellbeing of his country and people. However, it defeats its purpose if it comes from someone who is working clearly against the interest of the Eritrean people and at the servitude of some external forces. Moreover, timing is everything and prioritization of issues becomes of paramount importance. The question remains then whose interests are these riffraff and democracy pretenders trying to serve? And what an insult it is to the Eritrean people for them to think they can fool any genuinely concerned Eritrean by their half baked mambo jumbos? We know many of them work hand and glove to conspire to overthrow the Eritrean government by force in cohort with certain known enemies of Eritrea including but not limited to the “wey ane!” gangs. How, in the name of the “Halal meriet”, are we supposed to believe these sellouts their futile attempt to preach us that they are for the benefit of Eritrea and the Eritrean people? Their actions speak tons; and tell us otherwise. Thus, whether one likes it or not, accepts the facts or not, the current reality of Eritrean political landscape is for Eritrea and Eritreans, wherever they may be, to do whatever they can to safeguard the national independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country for which we have fought through thick and thin. Once that is firmly established by the rule of law, then everything else would come into place like the proverbial “Domino effect”. Short of that, any distraction from the real and burning issues of the day amounts to nothing more than “mai qetene” type argument which serves no good purpose and is thus, null and void and dead on arrival! |
