MOGADISHU, Somalia (UPI) — Renewed clashes between militants and Ethiopian soldiers supporting the interim government rocked Somalia's capital for a second day Sunday.
The heavily armed militants took to the streets of Mogadishu following raids by interim government troops in the Hodan and Howlwadag neighborhoods, SomaliNet reported. Hundreds of young people supporting the militants chanted We don't need Ethiopians in opposition to the strong Ethiopian presence in the interim government. Saturday, six Somali civilians died in the clashes when they were caught between the militants and Ethiopian troops while three other civilians were killed when the militants fired rocket-propelled grenades at Ethiopian troops in southern Mogadishu.
