Mogadishu, Somalia (AHN) - After reports that a U.S. Navy warship sank two pirate vessels off the coast of Somalia, the Pentagon now says a second destroyer is in active pursuit of a hijacked civilian vessel.
On Sunday, the USS Porter (DDG-78), an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, responded to a distress call from a merchant vessel under attack from two pirate skiffs in international waters. The destroyer, on loan to an international task force aimed at stopping piracy and terror in the region, responded with deadly force, sinking both vessels.
