THE US ADMINISTRATION: WAGING AN UNJUST WAR TO 'SUBJUGATE' THE ERITREAN PEOPLE Print E-mail

It is the latest and yet again unjustified and rather undignified decision by the US administration vis-a-vis the law-abiding Eritrea, i.e. the administration's order to shut the Eritrean Consulate in Oakland, California, that had caused me to write this brief article. To this writer, no other nation has waged war against the very existence of Eritrean people than the US. Indeed, the destructive role played by US administrations, both past and present, only attests to this fact. In 1950s, the US administration played a pivotal role in 'Federating' colonial Erirtrea with neighbouring Ethiopia, and in its subsequent annexation by the ezpansionist Ethiopian Emperor. Indeed, by rewarding the ezpansionist and lawless Imperial regime in Ethiopia with 'Eritrea', thus denying the Eritreans justice, the US administration set the stage for the thirty year long war between Eritrea and Ethiopia that hasd caused both sides human and material destructoin of Biblical proportions.

Thanks to the destructive role played by the US administration, the Eritreans were forced to wage armed struggle single-handedly against successive Ethiopian regimes that were buttressed by the US and the former USSR, in order to assert their human dignity and their right to exist as Eritreans. And thanks to the tens of thousands of Eritrea's beloved sons and daughters who sacrificed their precious lives, Eritreans eventually regained their human dignity and their rightful place as Eritreans, in May 1991.

After the long and costly war, the Eritrean Governement and people chose to forgive and forget. Accordingly, they sought to establish peaceful and bilateral relations based on mutual respect both with neighbouring Ethiopia and the US. However, the Woyuane regime's invasion of sovereign Eritrean territories and the subsequent unust handling of the issue by the US administration, soon made it clear that their past demons have caught up with both the US administration and the lawless minority regime in Ethiopia. Indeed, instead of using the new and golden opportunity to reverse the previous US administration's historical errors vis-a-vis Eritrea, the currrent US administration, blinded by its quest for global dominance, have instead been working hard, directly or indirectly, to yet again 'subjugate' the Eritrean people, which is tantamount to waging war against their hard-won human dignity and their right to extist as Eritreans

The several subsequent accusations that followed the Woyane's invasion, against the Eritrean Government, directly by the US administration or indirectly through its 'agents', are all related to the US administration's desire to 'subjugate' the Eritrean people. And so is the latest order by the US administration to shut the Eritrean Consulate in Oakland, California.

Seven years have elapsed since a verdict was given by the Eritrea-Ethiopia Border Commission (EEBC), yet due to the yet again destructive role the US administration have been playing, the issue remains stuck in limbo. And by denying the law-abiding Eritreans justice, and allowing and encouraging the lawless and rogue regime in Ethiopia to continue occupying sovereign Eritrean territories, the US administration, just as in 1950s, are setting the stage for yet again another destructive war between Eritrea and Ethiopia.

I now end this brief article by calling on the US administration to humble themselves, and learn to use their unique position on earth for good rather than evil. As for Eritreans they need only continue marching forward despite repeated and loud barks against their 'dignified walk'.
