Twenty First Century Style Imperialism

Who would ever have imagined that imperialism would once again raise its dirty head, in the twenty first century, after it was believed to have gone and died forever, thus allowing the human race to once again take a deep breath and to become the master of its own destiny, able to go forward in peace and harmony, one with the other, under a new umbrella called the United Nations? And who would have ever guessed that this deteriorated, decaying, degraded, ignorant and cowardly ideology, such as imperialism, would be revived and resurrected by the very people who were alleged to have been pioneers of democracy, the United States of America ? Who indeed would have ever imagined that the twenty first century would be a journey toward the past, and not toward the future?

Americans have always had this false belief that it was their God given right to become a transcontinental nation occupying the Americas from one end of an ocean to the other, no matter the amount of sufferings, deaths and disruptions it might cause to many hundreds of thousands of different human beings like the Indian Natives and the neighboring Mexicans, just to name a few. They called it ‘Manifest Destiny. This American belief of ‘manifest destiny‘ sounds even more bizarre than the belief that the suicide bombers proclaim to have about finding seven virgins waiting for them at the gates of heaven after they die. What difference is there, since they both invoke the name of God to justify their murderous and terroristic actions?

Incase anyone is confused, it is the ‘manifest destiny' phenomenon that we now have in our hands, as regards the present American adventurism in Africa, which, different from the eighteen hundreds, when blacks were considered only as three quarters of a human being, let alone to join in the game, ‘manifest destiny' today is ironically being played with the help and collaboration of certain greedy Africans, such as the woyane leader in Ethiopia and others who originate from that continent.

So here is the USA , acting no better than the terrorists that it is claiming to be hunting, as they unabashedly tell the world, in this era of twenty first century, that they had been anointed by God to cause mayhem and suffering throughout the world. It makes one wonder if we are talking about the same God.

Nevertheless, with the God of truth and fairness on her side, Eritrea will surely prevail.
