An alliance of [Ethiopian] opposition groups called Unity of Ethiopians for Democratic Change [UEDC] has been formed in a bid to take the Ethiopian people’s struggle to victory and shorten the life of the weyane [Ethiopian] regime in power.
The organizations which formed the union are four armed Ethiopian organizations, which are waging an armed struggle to remove the weyane regime from power. They are the Tigray People’s Democratic Movement [TPDM, operating in northern Ethiopia], the Ethiopian People’s Patriotic Front [EPPF, operating mainly in north-western Ethiopia], the Southern Ethiopia People’s Front for Justice and Equality [SEPFJE, operates in southern Ethiopia] and the Benishangul People’s Movement [BPM, operates in western Ethiopia]. In a joint communiqué, the organizations said that they would further enhance their military, political, propaganda and cultural activities under the leadership of UEDC.The organizations called on Ethiopians living in the country and abroad, opposition groups and the weyane soldiers to stand alongside the alliance and give their support in the struggle against the weyane regime.
