POLLING stations in Venezuela's referendum called by President Hugo Chavez to bolster his powers closed tonight, officials said.
Defence Minister Gustavo Rangel Briceno made the announcement in front of reporters 45 minutes after the scheduled 4pm (7am Monday AEDT) closure of the vote. The head of the National Electoral Council, Tibisay Lucena, officially confirmed the closure and said that centres that still had lines of voters would process their ballots. "We have to wait for the electoral results," she said. "Once again, Venezuela has shown the world that we are a democratic, civil and peaceful country, and we resolve our differences through democracy," she said. There were no immediate indication of turnout. Sixteen million voters were called to cast their ballots on whether the constitution should be changed to incorporate 69 reforms. The changes included doing away with the two-term limit for the president and lengthening his mandate to seven years from six, and establishing a "socialist economy" under which the government could expropriate property, gag the media in times of emergency, and take over the central bank. >> Visit Reuters Special Coverage "Venezuela referendum"

Letter dated Nov. 30'07 from the Legal Adviser to the President of Eritrea to the president of the UNSC
From `legal nonsense to `legal fiction.

With effect from midnight tonight (30.11.2007), the demarcation of Ethio-Eritrean boundary will be as complete as any demarcated interstate boundary would be, if not better defined.
