Southern and Southern Red Sea regions - ready to live up to nations expectations

Asmara, 14 December 2007 - The inhabitants of the Southern and Southern Red Sea regions reaffirmed their readiness to meet any eventuality by standing alongside their government and reinforcing national unity. They expressed such commitment in public meetings held in different towns of the two regions focusing on the objective situation in the Homeland and the region, as well as the resistance of the Eritrean people.

The participants of the meetings reiterated their readiness to rebuff the anti-Eritrea conspiracies and hostilities being waged by the US Administration through its servant, the TPLF regime. They also voiced their dedication to step up the on-going national development drive, especially in endeavors to achieve food security.

Commending the Eritrean government’s mature and correct handling of the border issue, the participants called on the Government to keep on pursuing such policy.

In the seminars conducted in the Southern region, the Minister of Public Works, Mr. Abraha Asfaha, the Minister of Tourism, Ms. Amna Nurhusein, and the Administrator of the region, Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, respectively gave extensive briefings on Eritrea’s relations with other countries, the state of the national economy, the acts of hostility weaved by the US Administration and the prevailing situation in Somalia and the Sudan, among others.

Meanwhile, in the seminars that were conducted in the Southern Red Sea region, the Commander of Operation Zone 4, Maj. General Haile Samuel, the Administrator of the region, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegergish, and other officials gave similar briefings, in which they stressed the paramount importance of keeping cherished Eritrean values in resisting acts of hostility and conspiracy intact. The officials also pointed out that encouraging achievements have been registered in the domains of mining, fisheries, tourism and infrastructure.
