Heavily armed Islamic fighters launch fresh attacks on Ethiopian base Print E-mail

As the violence run deep in the Somalia capital Mogadishu, four people were killed and other more were wounded in a new clashes between the Ethiopian backed interim government troops and the intensified local insurgent groups on Tuesday, witnesses said. All the dead and wounded were civilians who killed by stray bullets in Daynile district, southwest of the capital when the government troops clashed with local militants this morning.

The latest fighting came as the government forces were searching for weapons in the area where they met strong resistance from the Islamic fighters.

Elsewhere, heavily armed Islamic fighters launched an attack on the base of the Ethiopian forces inside the former Pasta factory in Yaqashid district, north of the capital early this morning.

The insurgents hit several mortar rounds at the base where the Ethiopian soldiers responded with heavy artillery weapons.

No casualty was reported on the Ethiopian soldiers as the journalists are not allowed to approach the area of the conflict because of security.

People have already abandoned all the residential areas near the base of the Ethiopians because of on the ongoing violence.
