 The Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations on Somalia, Mr. Ahmedou Ould Abdallah, visited Eritrea over the weekend and met with Eritrean officials, including Mr. Yemane Ghebreab, Political advisor to the President.
During the meetings, Eritrea conveyed its position on Somalia to the UN official. Eritrea stressed that the United Nations and the United Nations Security Council have the responsibility to:-
Eritrea also informed the Special Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Ould Abdallah, that currently there is a regional effort to assist the Somali people and Somali political actors to start a political process that would lead to peace, stability and a functioning government in Somalia.
