Another Eritrean public forum had concluded with a stunning success today, February 23rd, 2008 in the Emerald city. It has become somewhat typical for the Eritrean Seattleites to rise to the occasion whenever they were called for the defense of Eritrea; and more than often with their own nationalist initiatives. As such, there were no surprises there, but certain pride of being part of Eritrea with utmost admiration and sense of accomplishment.
The occasion of rededication and mission assertiveness was manifested when some members of the Eritrean Embassy in Washington, DC were in town to brief the 500 or so Eritrean Americans that were gathered in a conference hall in Seattle to discuss the prevailing political and economic situation in the Homeland. Although there were lively exchange of views and expressed comments and concerns on a variety of subjects of interest to the Eritrean public, the main reason for the meeting was primarily to remind the participants about the significance of maintaining the Eritrean people’s unique and age-old unity. Obviously our unity is the core of our existence as a country and which is also the envy of friends and foe alike. It is especially important now, more than ever, when the enemies of our independent spirit have been at it, yet again, to slander and distort our signature steadfastness of vigilance in safeguarding our independence; and reinvigorating our proven motto of self reliance and Eritrean resourcefulness. This is particularly crucial since some foreign interests have been attempting some exercise in futility to create some division in the hitherto unwavering sense of national unity the Eritrean people have proudly shown during their existence as a country. The Embassy staff further emphasized that the organizational structure of the People Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ), which is really a microcosm of the Eritrean populace at large, must be strengthened further to enhance our people’s preparedness for any eventuality and to head on any challenges thereof. The meeting was concluded successfully with a positive note in which the participants agreed that the ongoing world wide vigilant defiance of the Eritrean people, appropriately dubbed as “hzbawi meKete”, will continue relentlessly until the Eritrean territorial integrity is restored. This meeting was also a telling blow to a handful “Eritrean” sellouts and misfits that have been vocal in their opposition to the popular meKete and mocking to anything and everything the Eritrean people aspire for -just like their Weyane masters do!
