We Condemn Jenday Frazer�s Statements

We strongly condemn the Statement made by Assistant Secretary of State Department for African Affairs, Dr. Jenday Frazer. She charges the ERITREAN People and the government as the sponsor of terrorism (mainly in Ethiopia) and destabilizing the region of Horn of Africa. To our dismay, we find her statement un-diplomatic, biased and surely ill-informed. Eritrea has never praised or supported terrorism, but on the contrary, it was being a victim of terrorism at the early age of its independence. We will not go to great lengths to prove that Eritrea is not a state sponsor of terrorism, because the facts are recorded as history. Very down to earth, right to the point, Eritrea is a peace loving country. This has been proved by its role in bringing peace in South Sudan, Eastern Sudan and the recent Somali congress for Liberation and Reconstitution in Asmara.

It is unlikely to witness in this modern time that someone in a position like Jenday Frazer to take side openly with one of the two quarrelled neighbours. Her recent stand point in the issue of the EEBC’s final and binding ruling was biased. The principle of territorial integrity of states, member states of the United Nations, is one of the foundations of international law. But she failed to respect to this international law.

Another important change that we believe needs to be made is that the U.S. State Department in general, Jenday Frazer in particular should be neutral on the issue of border conflict between Eritrea and Ethiopia; and to refrain from falsely accusing Eritrea as the sponsor of terrorism.

Jendayi Frazer, the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, has never made a statement to condemn the innocent people that are being tortured in Somalia by the TPLF regime. The whole world knows that, everyday; people are dying and suffering as the result of the Ethiopian occupation. The U.S.A government denied that. This is the sort of abuse U.S. officials condemn when it happens in Iran, Sudan, China or other countries.

The United States should leave the Horn of Africa alone to look after its own stability, security and internal affairs.
