ImageHead of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mehdi Mostafavi and visiting Eritrean Minister of Information Ali Abdu Ahmed here on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding on cultural, scientific and educational cooperation.

Once it goes into effect, the accord will significantly boost cultural relations between the two countries.

The document calls for holding cultural weeks and exhibitions, exchanging cultural delegations and establishing relationships between Iranian and Eritrean publishers.

Referring to the expansion of ties between the two countries in previous years, Mostafavi called for boosting mutual cultural cooperation.

He also expressed hope that Tehran can host a meeting of African countries in the near future.

Ali Abdu Ahmed, for his part, added the two countries economic and political ties are expanding.

He also sought expansion of cultural ties in line with the economic and political ties.

Praising Islamic Republic's great ancient civilization, he voiced his country willingness to expand cooperation with Iran in all fields.
