Quoting obscure Israeli security officials, the Sunday Times published a report on April 19th claiming that "Israel and Iran are conducting rival intelligence operations in Eritrea."

Under strong pressure from self-interested powers, the UN Security Council yesterday (14 January 2009) adopted an ill-considered, unbalanced and unnecessary resolution against Eritrea.

In December 2006, Ethiopia invaded Somalia setting a dangerous precedent in the region. Initially, the pretext for the invasion was to pre-empt, in the words of Ethiopia’s Prime Minister, the “Islamist threat” emanating from Somalia.

PRESS RELEASE: With the green light from Washington and under the cover of the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ethiopia has summoned the so-called Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia to Nairobi.

Over the last few days, the Government of Ethiopia has been falsely accusing Eritrea for ill-treatment of a group of Ethiopian nationals. The Government of Eritrea has no desire to reply to the daily hate propaganda of the Ethiopian Government. However, the Government deems it appropriate to set the record straight to Ethiopia and the public at large.

On October 6 yesterday, the US State Department issued a government notice banning arms sales to Eritrea by designating it “as a country that is not fully cooperating with anti-terrorism efforts”. Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, Iran and North Korea are other countries that were put in the list previously by a similar US government notice.
